I just painted my spare. I sanded and primered it then used 3 coats of bbq/grille paint. It turned out really well and I will be painting the rest of my wheels. I also have the 16 inch alloys. Just make sure you get the wheels very clean before painting.

Yea...sounds like you got it. I painted mine gunmetal, but i think iam about to redo them black. I already did my spare black. I used Dupli-color wheel coating for the gunmetal...then switched to Rustoleum wheel coating for the black spare. I think i like the Rustoleum better. The paint seems to go on a little smoother. I used dupli-color self-etching primer for both. I have a buddy that used engine paint for his black rims on a tacoma and they came out great also. Just be sure not to be too rough with the sanding on those aluminum wheels...they scar pretty easily. Good luck.

Sorry...I dont have a picture with clean wheels.

or, you can powder coat them any color you want for a much more long lasting finish.

Powder coating is definitely the way to go..., if you can pay for it. The shop by my house wanted $75/wheel and this did not include preparation costs. I did mine for under $15.

yeah discobob, not really trying to watch my etiquette when I post, so sorry sir!

anyways back to more important issues

I painted the rims with rustoleum and it looks greauwt, just picked up some rovertym rock sliders as well going out to uwharrie tomorrow to do some hard wheeling! the powder coaters near my house wanted 75 a rim to powder coat them and i would have to go through the trouble of taking my tires of, and honestly i did not feel like going through all that.
