Talking Your Modded Land Rover here:

I've been thinking alot lately about various mods I'd like to make on an 04 Discovery, if all goes as planned, and I thought it would be a good idea to start a new thread about all the mods people have done on their Land Rover's. Please include pictures and details of the mods you made to your Landy. This is a great opportunity to make our Landy's stand out.

I haven't done anything yet to mine but I'm planning on performing a number of mods to the 04:

1.) Removing the 03-04 style rear tail lights on my 04 disco for the older 99-02 style rear tail lights as seen below.

2.) Installing a camera system: camera will probably be installed discretely on the rear cargo door, havent decided yet wheather I want a screen monitor installed in the center dash console or just a rear view mirror monitor.
a.) center dash console monitor

b.) rear view mirror monitor

3.) Installing the UltraGauge 2 just above the steering wheel, in front of the odometer cluster panel.

4.) Rifle rack mount capable of housing an AK-47 or similar semi-automatic rifle

7.) 3 Battery setup. Two prime batteries to power all general functions, all accesories etc and one cold battery for use in camping.
8.) Complete OME suspension + 3 Inch suspension lift
9.) full size safari roof rack
10.) 8 Hella lights. 4 mounted to safari roof rack, 2 mounted on custom bumper and 2 installed above the rear cargo door to assit in night time reversing and parking.
11.) Premium underbody coating.
12.) underbody plating to cover all vital areas.
13.) 5 premium all season tires, 5 premium studded winter tires
14.) 04 Disco HSE edition navigation system and parking sensor (will have to part from a HSE to install on my SE)
15.) Tinted windows to darkest tint legal in my state

Default '03 Disco SE7 mods

I started a thread like this on a different Landy forum. I have pulled the heads on my 4.6L to replace the head gaskets and while I was waiting for the UPS to deliver, I ported and polished the intake, heads, and exhaust manifolds. When put back together with a fresh tune up, this truck runs like a champ!

My future plans for mods are all based on improving the volumetric efficiency of the engine and reducing the under hood temps.

-Larger diameter exhaust pipe and free flowing muffler
-corvette high flow cats
-Dodge RAM air cleaner box to provide increased filter media for less restriction.
- replace viscus fan for electric fans

The only other mods i have in mind are ARB with winch and AT tires then the transfer case CDL mod.

i WISH it was a real saudi grill but those things are expensive. this one cost ten bucks and took an hour not counting how long for the epoxy to set

theres a write up in the D1 tech section, mad easy. thanks for the plaudits, im trying to focus on functional no, i spent enough time on "looking" bad ***. although i was cruising home today in my AWESOME (tongue in cheek) ford focus work car and it reminds me how bad i want a stereo in th truck because for as much as most of the focus sucks, it doesnt have a bad stereo, not as good as the wifes bimmer, but everyone beats my trucks stereo.....theres always something, no?
failed to mention that before the snorkel i'll want new door seals all around and to rip up the carpet and rhino line the interior

Hey great post! Now thats what I'm talking about! Mods are not limited to ARB equitment I do wish you took step by step pics when you removed the heads and cleaned everything up though. I may try it out myself. interesting about the free flowing muffler and the Dodge Ram airbox.

Now this brings up a good point about our Disco's! The visors are ugly, plain and low quality. Maybe they can be swapped out for a more stylish heavy duty visor? Or maybe just wrap them in cloth to give them more appeal.
