2017 TDV6 ZF8 Transmission Fluid Change
I finally got to do the fluid change.

They shorted me 1 liter, didn't need but 5 anyway. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/landrov...f40bd52dc0.jpg belly pan has 8 15mm bolts. Started truck, held brake, went through gears, R-N-D-S, it would only allow S1, S2, S3...........waited till temp reached 45C With truck still running, pulled fill plug, finish topping it off. shut it down, checked for leaks, performed reset: 0. Press "Start" button only. (ie: Do NOT start the engine.) 1. Press and hold gas pedal to floor for approx. 15secs. 2. Press "Start" button again. 3. Release gas pedal. 4. Wait approx. 2mins.; start engine and drive. She is smooth as Butter! |

You can only drain what drains and there will always be residual of the old fluid, correct? Looks so easy via pictures! (Famous last words.....). Thank you for sharing.

I notice that you have Lucky8 rock sliders (as do I). The rock sliders can support the vehicle and I use my Hi-Lift jack with an adapter ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F4HX9FW...language=en_US) to lift either side of the vehicle. I'm thinking that jack stands positioned at the four corners of the rock sliders could support the vehicle with the wheels off the ground, which would facilitate cycling through the gears without having to apply the brakes after changing transmission fluid. Comments?
I thought about the four jack stands also. I was just not brave enough to try it. If you try that method, let us know how it goes. |
