Default Activity Key

Hi! Anyone have any experience using the activity key for a Discovery 5?

OEM part number quote was $197.36 plus labor of $193. Total of $390.

Is it worth the money? Can I use it daily and leave massive smart key behind?

Anyone have any experience using the activity key. This is for the original activity key, looks like for 2021 Land Rover releases Activity Key 2.0.

I wonder if Activity 2.0 is even an option for my 2020 Discovery 5.

You can use it daily. You still need the normal keyfob but you leave that inside the car. When you exit the car you leave the keyfob inside (Eg in glove box). Then use activity key held up to the back of the tailgate to lock the car (and deactivate the keyfob inside). When you return you hold it up to the tailgate to unlock and reactivate the keyfob inside the car

I've seen it in use and it looks pretty simple. But don't know whether it's clunky to use in practice
Also note you have to walk around to the tailgate to lock it every time. Otherwise you are leaving your car with a live keyfob inside and anyone could drive off. So it's not as convenient as the smart door unlock / lock.

I used my activity key all weekend. Wearing the activity key is like putting on a Fitbit. It’s very convenient, and while it is in use, it deactivates the key fob.
