Default Anyone running 33” tires?

It’s that time to replace my tires, and I’m going to put on some BFG All Terrains. I’m trying determine if I can fit 33” tires (275/60/R20). I’m going to get the IIDTool and set it so the height is lifted to make some room. I’m more concerned with the fit in the wheel well. Anyone have this set up?

We are running 33’s on the LK8 D5. We are utilizing our Proud Rhino lift Rods. Had to do just a little trim on some plastic so it didn’t rub but nothing one would really notice.

Thanks for the quick reply! I thought I read somewhere that the 33’s you’re running are wider, too. Is that right? The tire I’m looking at is 3/4” wider. How much did that play into the need to cut the trim? Do you have some pics?

33x12.50 on compomotive wheels. The 12.50 width definitely contributed to the need to trim.

I’ll try to remember to look for some pics tomorrow. Was just on answering a few PM’s and ended up reading up on DII LS swaps and lost track of time lol

Well, I got my 33’s put on today. They’re looking really good.

They look great!

How much did you lift it? ID tool? or rods?

I used the IIDTool and lifted it 20mm. I used a stick to measure and mark before and after. 20 seemed to be the amount that put the tires back at the same delta to the wheel well as before.

For those interested, I was able to fit one of these underneath in place of the spare. It stretched the heat shielding a bit but fit with some help as the winch got to the top.

It’s the equivalent of 33”x10.8”. So, I’m trying to decide what to do about a new rim since this tire won’t fit on the factory spare.

I couldn’t really find a wheel I liked that would fit a tire close enough in size to the other tires, so I opted to get a matching wheel to the Style 5011 wheels I have.

Looked on eBay and called a few salvage yards with no luck. So, I ordered from a dealer in VA 💸💸💸. Should be here next week and will get a full spare set up 😁

Nice job on fitting the 33's. We have people running them with Johnson Rods but generally I recommend 32's which leave a bit more room for tire movement.
Thanks for sharing the update and pics.
