Default Future of the Discovery

Article: 2025 Land Rover Discovery
Speaking to Auto Express, CEO Thierry Bolloré said, “We need to make a real family car for the most discerning families. Discovery has to, and should, play this role that could disappear from the market otherwise – in the luxury segments at least. The Discovery will be that car.”
Placing more emphasis on luxury for ‘discerning families’ in the new Discovery, as Bolloré said, would likely mean a hike in prices from the current entry point of £57,225, with Land Rover targeting higher profit margins available in the luxury sector.

Thanks for sharing. The line up does look a little odd, am I missing something? I assumed they'd whap the trusty Disco sometime after the Defender 130 came out. By going up market presume they're going to use RRS & FF power trains again.
LR: Disco Sport, Defender 90 / 110, Disco, Defender 130
RR: Evoque, Velar, RRS, Full Fat.

LR would be wise to push a fully EV Disco 6 out.

So, I'm glad to hear that Land Rover finally has an idea of what to do with the Disco. I think it's floundered over the last couple of years because LR didn't know what it wanted it to be. They gave it a re-design, then practically abandoned it. A lot of the future intentions and options disappeared with the coming of the Defender. Then factors outside of their control happened worldwide. Combining predicted sales and global parts issues, I can't blame them for concentrating on a Defender that would guarantee sales. It's just unfortunate that the Discovery got lost. Also, LR did not do a great job promoting the D5.
I'm not sure if this new direction will appeal to me though. Now, if one of their various trims is a more rugged version, then that might be cool. Discovery has a lot of great history and I think it'd be a shame to se that lost in a mediocre family hauler.
As an aside, I really do love my D5, even the wonky offset license plate, haha. So, I might not be the best judge on what a Disco should or could be.
I am curious what other Disco owners think.

Agree with your opinion. When I started looking at Land Rovers my intent was to purchase a Defender (they had yet to come to market) and by chance I stopped by a dealership to discuss. Sales guy pointed out Discos on the lot (March 2020) ... 9 to choose from. Really was not interested, went home and started researching. A week later I owned one and have not regretted it all. A purchase of Black RR Sport wheels and AT tires later that year and I have the best of both worlds. I love my Disco and plan on keeping it until the crusher calls for it!

I have had more people flag me down to tell me they love my car than I can count. Just about every stoplight... not kidding. I know they are not looking at me! The copper color (I know it is supposed to be orange!) with black roof and trim is hard to miss.

I’m curious about this. Mind sharing details on what RR wheels you went with? Assuming your Disco is 2020 model year?

Yes... 2020 model year (US Version). I knew I wanted to have a separate set of wheels for off road so I started looking on eBay. Found that RR Sport wheel part # LR037745 essentially matched the specs of my OEM Disco Wheels. Went with used powder coated 20" gloss black from eBay(was going with 19" but it is very hard to find A/T tires that size here). When I got them I decided to use the RR Wheels as my daily driver and put the A/T tires on my OEM wheels. I am able to swap them myself in about 30 minutes.
