So the rear hatch was opened a bit too close to a chainlink fence and produced a bunch of small scratches on the bottom edge of the door on an 18 inch or so span. Barely visible when closed but curious how you'd go about a repair. It doesn't bother me enough to get it professionally done but over time im sure it'll bother me that I didn't do anything at all.
If I diy it, I've found both aerosol and brush applicator kits that come with color, clear coat, compound, etc..
I'm leaning towards the brush application but want advice before proceeding.
Since nobody else replied:
Maybe you could apply a self adhesive trim piece over the top of the scratches. I've seen chrome and stainless steel panels that adhere to the lower section of doors as a ding protection and as a decorative touch. Maybe one of those would be the right size and look okay for your tailgate. Depends on the curve of the panel but those stick on pieces can curve to match I think.
Search for stainless steel door kick plates. Still trying to find the automotive version. Or an door edge guard on the bottom edge.
