Default New Owner - Straight into Snow!

Tried to post this in the Quick Reply to my original post below a couple times, so forgive me if those pop up too eventually.

Thanks to feedback from Groucho123 and 2019D5 we went with an HSE and got a good deal on a 2019. Really love it!

Luckily we got it just in time for a Thanksgiving trip to Lake Arrowhead because it absolutely dumped snow! We got to put it to work right away, conditions were pretty rough and the Discovery handled it like a champ, totally surefooted and confidence inspiring. At the tire chain checkpoint where they were making most everyone put them on, the CalTrans guy just asked if we had chains on board and then said "nice car, go on through".

Anyway, looking forward to being a member of the board!

Congrats on the new D5!
Looks like you had fun.
Stock Pirellis? They seem to work really well in snow/ice when new. We were impressed with ours the first time we took it up in the snow.

Wow thats awesome....Hopefully one day I will experience snow like that. Living in Africa there is little chance of that.

What tires do you have? Mine came with the Goodyear eagle F1 all seasons and I found them very poor in the cold and snow/ice so am putting on Blizzaks this winter.

Couldn't agree more on the Goodyear Eagle F1.
They are terrible in the snow...I'd almost go as far as saying they're dangerous.
I get no traction whatsoever with the Goodyears...they're particularly bad when braking in snow / ice.

Awesome pics. Looks like you got a lot of snow. I also have the Pirelli's but they have had minimal use in the snow so far.

Awesome! Look at you...It even matches the color of the snow!
Get yourself some Blizzak tires and you will rule the world, they are very quiet and ride almost like the stock tires....except you will have tons more grip. They also shed the snow and slush much better and the stability is much improved.
Congrats and enjoy.

BTW, upon advise from this forum I picked up a set of running boards from ebay for 299.00 They even say Discovery on the tread. They seem to keep the slush and junk off the sides as well.
