Default new side vents

Ordered a new pair of side vents. This is a very small change, but I like how they look.
Side note: even if the packaging on any trim removal tool (bought from auto parts store) says anti marring, don't believe it!

I've seen these on Ali Express but was wondering about the quality (does the silver/grey bit match the original silver/grey color? )and more to the point how difficult are they to fit?

hey LoneStarLR. I've included some pics below of both side by side and what's actually behind the vents. I took the photo from an angle, so the new ones look larger but are the same size.
I purchased these from powerfuluk. The shipping was amazingly fast. They are a little darker than the original silver, but I don't think it looks bad.
Figuring out how to get the current ones off was the biggest challenge, haha. They are held on by a simple clip (below). I opened the door so I could get a good grip on the large end and carefully pulled towards me, when there was enough gap, I slid my fingers underneath to get a little more leverage to pull. Just a good steady pull will allow them to pop out, but be careful not to bend it too much. I've read elsewhere that running some fishing line or similar under it once you have some leverage can work as well.
I also ordered some of the white LED puddle lights (below) from them for the doors and the difference at night when opening is amazing. Be careful pulling the old lamps out, they are incredibly hot for such a little lamp.

Side by side

the shade makes it look a little darker than it is

back of both, exact same fit

holding clip, I broke one pulling off the original, but the new one comes with them

mystery solved, more sheet metal behind the vents

super bright LED puddle lights

Sure can. They were purchased from powerfulUK LLM018-White. Replacement is straightforward, pics below. Use a flat head screwdriver on the inside edge to pull the cover down . It's all one assembly. Unplug the old and plug in the new. The new one is fully contained and also has the right circuits to fade out and not trigger a bulb warning. Again, they look great and are super bright at night.

Flathead to pull down, use very light pressure

Original assembly. Bulb is surprisingly hotter than you think. The cable in the door is short...

but there's enough to grab and attach.

attach the new assembly to the cable

push back into place

DiscoNight5, glad you had the forethought to take so many photos and take the time to post them here, it's greatly appreciated.

I think I'll follow your lead on both of those modifications.

The silver/grey on the new fender badge does look a slightly darker shade but given that area doesn't have any other original color trim nearby I can't imagine anyone would notice.

I'm really surprised any lights on any new premium car these days are bulbs vs LED's...

Thanks very much. I'm surprised the old ones weren't LED.

I agree with you both, it seems an odd choice for JLR not to make the puddle lights LED like the rest of the vehicle. But, it's solved now and looks great, haha!

Post up some pics when you get the upgrades in place LoneStarLR.

Due to this thread my Discovery is now wearing similar Union Jack livery grilles also from PerformanceUK but this time in the mono or ghost color scheme.

They arrived here in Texas in just 4 days.

I was very happy to find that the originals literally do just pull off, no need for prising with tools or having to squeeze or possible damage clips.
The old ones came off with no damage and the new ones just pressed on.
I'd say the quality of the finish isn't up to the original part, but given the prices what do you expect and unless you're peering at them from inches away you'd never know.
I'm very happy with the result! Thanks for the heads up DiscoNight5!

I also ordered the same door lights but haven't gotten around to fitting them yet...
