Wheel spacers
Installed a set of TerraFirma 30mm wheel spacers on the D5 yesterday. I definitely love the new look. I didn't think 60mm wider track would make much difference in the way the truck drives, but I can definitely feel it. Mostly on the backroads near our house where it just feels more stable around the curves. I also programmed in 20mm lift with my GAP tool. I'm not sure how this would work without a lift. It might be ok, but when the suspension settles down in entry mode there's only 2 cm or so between the tire and the fender flare. It's especially close when the rear drops again after opening the tailgate where the gap disappears down to a couple mm. Tires are 265/65R-18 Kuhmo Road Venture AT52 which are close in dimension to the stock 20 inch tires we took off.
These pictures are at the stock non-lifted entry height. Before: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/landrov...c81b63065f.jpg After: https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/landrov...9e1c7529bb.jpg |
Looks good! What wheels are those?

Those are the TuffAnt Simpson 18" wheels. I'm actually replacing the front spacers with a 20mm spacer soon. 30mm causes the tire to rub slightly at the front of the wheel well liner only while reversing. I guess there's enough flex in the suspension bushings to move things around a little.

Super thanks for the tip again. Sadly I got rid of the stock height sensor rods.. need to find a new set to get the calibration done myself I suppose.
Yeah, I didn't think too hard about the add'l CV wear. Guess I'm gonna have to just see how that plays out. Truck's at 76k miles, no idea what status of wear is at. Previously running 32"s as well -- and agreed same as you, that was a relatively easy setup. Guess I had to push it for no good reason (other than aesthetics) with the 33"s haha. Forgot to answer your question on the extended mode -- I might just have the terminology wrong. The height control button has 3 settings -- normal, access, and what I thought is called "extended." When the truck was all stock, putting into extended would lift about 3" additional. |
