2004 Discovery SE, engine troubles. Sell, fix?
New to the forum and looking for sage advise.
I have a 2004 Discovery SE. I'm the only owner. No accidents. 71,000 miles.
NEVER been off road.
Serviced routinely in one shop in San Jose, CA. Service warranty was to 50K.
Oil light on dashboard recently came on. On and off. Now in an Oakland, CA
shop. Not dealership. Shop owner, who fixes Landrovers, says I need a new engine. Cam bearing shifted. (Sorry, I have no idea what that means!)
My instinct is: ditch.
Two questions: anybody interested in a fixer upper?
Or: should I spend a pile to get engine fixed?
Many thanks.
p.s.
I'm in Oakland, CA.
