Hello everyone! I just purchased a 1999 D1 for $800! 150k miles, head gaskets, ARP studs, head resurfacing and whatever else has to be usually done was completed around 40k miles ago. Also has new brakes and rotors all the way around, and a few other parts. This recent owner has owned it for 10 years and has spent some coin on it. Has 4" lift (maybe?), new BFG tires, roof rack, custom bumper, rock rails, etc. I purchased sight unseen and will be flying from San Diego, Ca to Reno, then driving it back. Feels scary, but I'm sure it will be an adventure. The wife don't want to go with me thinking we will be on the side of the road. Might be going solo on this one.I've also never drove that far nor been to Reno. My friend laughed at me after I purchased it and said if it blows up, it has about 2k in parts anyways. I plan on using it the way it is, fixing whatever it needs and wheel the hell out of it. I also have an LS1 on standby for the future, as I have built many LS'.

This thing ended up being a complete pile of **** !!!! It was super beat up and it ended up blowing up 5 miles from seller's house. When I first saw it, I already didn't want it. We started our drive home and it overheated at the gas station 2 miles from seller. I saw coolant puking from the expansion tank. I found the cap a little loose. Tightened it up and we went on our way. 4 miles into the highway I saw temps climb to 232f, so we stopped, let it cool down and tried again. Temps were up to 235f this time. So I turned the heater on and temps went down to 224f, but then back up to 230f. I called the seller and told him it's done and that I'd like my money back. He was cool and told me to bring it back and not stop even if it blew. So we drove back and I saw temps hit 249f. Blew both head gaskets as I pulled into his driveway and smoke was pouring out the exhaust. He was in disbelief. He felt bad, gave me all my money back and we flew home. This ended up being a $640 test drive. I lost that in air fair for myself and my wife, oh well. BUT, I did find something else, and although I shelled out $9k, this rig is the business.
