Hey
Howdy, I'm Charlie and I'm new (obviously). I am looking for a new off road platform, and thought I would check you all out. I love the look of a modded out Discovery, and wanted to get one and make it my new project. I was looking at fixing up a mid 90's Discovery (before Ford got a hold of them) base model, as I would probably rip out all the interior anyway. I would definately want to lift it and make it a total off road monster, save a full roll cage and losing all streetability. I want to know what people were doing, what years were good, what years were easier to work on, reliability, power, etc. (you know what I'm getting at). I don't have a budget set just yet, but I was thinking on starting everything in March. I am all ears and am willing to learn.
I am a big time off road enthusiast you could say. Currently I have a Z71 Tahoe with 6 inch ProComp suspension lift, 35 inch ProComp all terrains, 17 inch American Racing Crater Teflon wheels, Gibson dual exhaust, Hypertech chip, 13 LED amber flashing heads, 6 23watt strobe heads in head, fog and backup lights, Magellan navigation, XM, CB, 8 way headlights, Warn 9.5ti MultiMount winch, class 3 receiver in the front, class 4 receiver in the rear, Speco security camera coupled with a Marshall 3.5"LCD, Optima Yellow Top, PIAA Air Dam, PIAA 520 driving, PIAA 510 driving, Parrot CK3100 Bluetooth handsfree, TD 39 LED 14 Segment Traffic Director w/ Orion switchbox, Volant intake system. As well as a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD ECSB LBZ Duramax Allison 1000, 60" Whelen Edge with 12 LED's 4 Strobes STTLED's and 4 55w work lights, 8 Whelen LIN3 flashers, Backrack, Spray in over-the-rail bedliner, Tekonsha digital trailer brake, Magellan GPS. (I actually just copied my sig from anothe forum www.z71tahoe-suburban.com)
The Tahoe needs to get some 4:56's and a new PCM tune, but other than that, it is a capable off road machine. The Sierra is my work truck.
I am a professional lighting designer by trade, so I lighting for parties, weddings, concerts, shows and whatnot, as well as provide video support and equipment. I love what I do. So enough about me...
