Default Just got a Discovery 2

I just purchased a discovery series 2, 2003 model.
I have been out of the four wheeling community for a few years. I used to have a toyota pick up. Anyone have any advice on entry level off road areas or clubs in North Carolina?

Welcome to the forum

Just a few things to know-1 get your front drive shaft rebuilt with greasable u joints and a new centering ball kit. The factory non greasable U joints can fail and take out your transmission with them.
2-Premium gas is a must. No way to get around it, unfortunately.
3-Does your VIN fall within this range?
3A771801 – 3A808362
Also, I saw your post over in the modification forums. There's a few options as far as lifts go. What sort of off roading are you looking to do? Are you going hard core rock crawling, or just some nice trails that you'd like a little extra clearance and flexing room on?

My vin is 3a809643, I got lucky because i did not know about that.

I am just looking for more ground clearance and suspension travel to take on moderate trails.

I used to have a 82' toyota pu with 31" tires that I took off road on a regular basis.

Can any driveline/driveshaft shop modify the driveshaft?

Any driveshaft shop should be able to do it. Just make sure you grease them regularly. For lifts most people go with 2". 2" you only need to change out shocks and springs, and possibly brake lines if you are worried about over stretching them. Any more and you need to change out a lot of stuff, but with 2" you get plenty of ground clearance, and the extra flexing room you need. rovertym.com has some great lift packages that will show you what needs to be done and what lift is right for you.
