Default New to discoveries and the site

Hey everyone my name is Ryan. I just bought my first Land Rover Discovery just in time for the gas prices to go up. It's a 1997 Discovery SE with 104,000 MIles in near mint condition.

The only problem is, yesterday, the day after i drove it off the lot, the check engine light came on. I brought it back to the dealer and they said they'd take care of it. I just hope it's not a sign for things to come. I know these things are plagued with electrical problems and I'm hoping they're not too overwhelming.

Some things you guys could inform me on is some places to get cheap parts, new or used, and some possible modifications to increasing MPG and maybe HP safely and correctly. I'm pretty familiar with working with engines but this is my first SUV and V8. So far besides the CEL I'm in love with my Disco.

Welcome! You have come to the right place. Post you tech questions in the Discovery section. There is a list of part suppliers in the Mods section, and when you are ready, DiscoMike has a line on some Magnacor plug wires. Poor MPG is what you get. You can change your driveline fluids to synthetics, change your plugs and wires, but that's about it. Some have chipped theirs, but it is pricey. Search the forums, if you can't find what you need, just ask!
