Hey everyone,

First thank you all for your contributions to this forum. This summer I purchased an 2003 Discovery and have enjoyed it. I got a great deal on it from a second owner and 96k on the spedo. Im not new to Rovers, while living in Europe my father and I had a 1972 Series 3 109 mil spec 24 volt radio truck 2.25 petrol. We are currently working to restore it. The only issues im having with the discovery is all the lights are on and coded for maf and o2 and abs sensor. Thanks to you all ive been able to work on them. Expect the dang MAF. I bought one on ebay (against better judgement) and it didnt fit. Why is it so dang hard to find an OE Bosch?

I am also active in a number of BMW forums and Veterans forums as well.

I look forward to talking with you all. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Michael

welcome to the forum! did you buy an MAF that was the plastic housing unit with the sensor in it or was it just the sensor? I would pick up a used one from one of the vendors such as Paul Grant just to swap it in and see if that's your problem or not. if its not then you have a spare in case the old one gets wet.

Hey Ed, I actually bought the full unit do you think I should just swap the sensor its self from the not fitting body and place on the original? I have done a few test that I learned on here such as pulling the sensor from the unit. Upon start it would quickly die and once I pulled the sensor it would start. You can tell that the fuel air fuel mixture is off from the lack of power. Im pretty confident that I need an entire new system.

i would buy the entire assembly. def dont use the sensor off the one you bought on ebay my guess is if the body didnt fit, the sensor is wrong as well. while you wait for a new one to come you might as well try and clean the old one with some electrical cleaner spray. see if that helps.
