Won't get out of park

Hello All,
I am new to this forum and have a question.
I have a 2000 LR2, and it won't get out of park. There was no indication that anything was wrong, I just went out to drive home, and it won't come out of park. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can check. I am a novice with car mechanics so be gentle.
