So, how does looting shops and burning innocent peoples cars and properties advance the cause of this protest?.

Methinks it's the same brainless thuggery as in London a few years ago! Any excuse for violence and theft!

Bingo! Jackpot! million dollar question answered right here.
Violence never has and never will solve anything. It just feeds and sustains itself from other acts of violence.

They just want free stuff and light fires and be on Television at other peoples expense. Now they do not have a gas station, beauty shop, deli, hamburger food place, cleaners, of grocery store, used car dealership, all because they cannot get their own race to be on the police force.

facts of a sad situation= a cop made a decision in the line of duty. a guy died. witnesses admitted to lies. cop is not charged.

now this. if these are acts of protest.......history is viewed with a blind eye. it is sad that we have had so many historical figures give their life, while demonstrating the ways we can make a difference and be heard in a non violent way.
we are using a tragic event to cause more tragedy. violent schoolyard logic or just an opportunity to loot..... either way it is sad and embarrassing.

Whether the cop under pressure acted justly or unjustly I cannot judge or even speculate in this case and it is very sad that someone has lost their life. Whether the protest was warranted or not, once again, not knowing the true facts first hand I wouldn't begin to judge or speculate. However, the protest degenerated into mindless violence, looting and thuggery which in my book is unforgiveable as any justification for peaceful protest has been undermined by, I'm sure, a few who are probably uninvolved with the boys family. I'm sure the whole issue has been written down to a political race matter, black vs white, which is even more sad. The actual facts and truths will probably never surface and the whole matter will be overshadowed by the violent protests, thieving and thuggery which is the greatest injustice and very sad.

This has the potential to turn into an ugly thread but it seems pretty clear that the young man who died was a thug and a criminal but didn't deserve to die for stealing cigars. The cop was clearly scared of being in that area and in that situation and once he was attacked in his car he feared for his life. But once Michael Brown ran from him, the immediate threat to his life was over. Ultimately, he put an awful lot of bullets into an unarmed person that had stopped and raised his hands. I have no idea how I would have reacted, I'm certain I would have been scared myself. I would have hoped that a police officer would have the training and discipline required to not let his fear cloud his judgment.

Regardless, you now have a community that feels wronged and angry because a white policeman shot a young black man. So to show their anger, they loot and burn businesses owned by minorities from their own community. Not quite sure how that improves their situation.

It is always the person that needs help that calls police. Then they defile authority by resisting and berating the officer as he tries to do the job. Seems when people do not want authority, they always protest that they were discriminated against because they now look foolish. If people would take the time to listen and do what is right instead of getting a continual handout and then thinking they are above the law, need to loose their free handouts from the government. Now they are wanting the government to rebuild what they burned or tore up without punishment. How many other countries let you act this way while paying you welfare and then rebuild what you burnt in the process?

Unfortunately, the UK, they are suckers for paying out benefits to losers from wherever in the world. it's the only country I know of where crime pays 'cos they will only slap them on the wrist and send them out to do the same .................... time after time after time

Having spent two weeks back 'home' there in the UK I couldn't leave quick enough as the place has degenerated into a 'loser takes all' welfare state where decent honest people are disregarded in favor of the scumbags and losers, either home grown or immigrant. Socialism rules OK ................ but very badly in local government and the conservative national government wouldn't know how to run "a pi55 up in a brewery" as they are too busy lining their pockets. sad.
