Default Gantry

Building a gantry crane. It'll be rated at 1 ton max safe lifting capacity. Made out of 3 pieces of 2x10x3/16 I beam welded together with 1/4" plates 9x12" bolted together to sandwich the weld joints for added security/strength and a truss gusset above to keep the thing from bending in the middle under a load. 12' long total length. 11' of usable area for the trolley. I have a 2 ton trolley and a 1 ton Coffing electric chain hoist ready for it sitting in my basement. For the legs...I'm still trying to gather material. So far, total cost has been $0.

First pic is the welded I beam.

Second Pic is the steel plates.

Third pic is the welder. Not the best out there, but I love that welder.
