sorry 05lr, im more of a ford guy myself, but the LS1 pwns the dohc 4.6, blown or not. the five-O or a 351 Windsor, however... lets just say if i had money id be making plans to drop one in the Disco.

I don't belive you can say the ls1 owns the 4.6 or the 4.6 owns the ls1. The ls1 is fast stock vs. stock i have seen the ls1 take care of business. But the 4.6 is a strong motor too. Oh yea its also a modulor as well. But anyway, My buddy has a ls1 with only bolt on's, and he runs 12's easy. At sea level he thinks he might be able to break into the 11's. I am running a 5.0 in a stang i have with some serious injectors, MAF, TB, and Trick Flow heads and I am breaking into the 12's with gears and slicks.

 

thats pretty good. i can't help it, i just love the fact that the 4.6 32V DOHC will out run an engine 1.1 liters bigger. i.e. Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords issue when they raced a stock mach 1 vs a stock 04 GTO. gto has 45 more horsepower and 1.1 liters bigger. the mach beat it by a tenth of a second each time. and they iced down the intake on the gto, they couldn't on the mach due to the shaker hood. mach 1 has solid rar axle, 3.55:1, 305 hp @ 5800, 320 lb-ft @4200. and the mach 1s actually look like a sportscar, not a grand am.

moral, gtos are gay (not the old ones though, they are cool)

 

i like the new GTOs personaly. but aperently im one of very few.

the 04 GTOs had LS1s, the 05s have LS2s

oh yeah, the reson im not much for the 4.6 is mostly due to the overhead cams. im more of a pushrod guy.

 

gto is austrailian design, even the volume control for the radio is on the passenger side. look at a holden morano. park those two together and they are the same. like the difference between an explorer and an aviator. also, gtos look like a grand am. (a fast one at that) last year they came out in like september of 03, (04) 18,000 gtos were made and by october only 8,229 had sold. hell, there were three at our pontiac dealership that sat on the lot for three months until they dropped $10,000 off the sticker. in 03, they made 6500 mach 1s, in 04 they made 6500 mach 1s. all sold. when we had ours on order, our salesman told us people were calling him all the time to ask if we would back out of buying it so someone else could get it. our mach one didn't sit on the lot for maybe an hour, they unloaded it, fueled it up, cleaned it, and we picked it up. those gtos sat for 3 months. there was an 05 that sat at the pontiac dealership for 4.5 months. they dropped $10,000 on it too. Bob Lutz is running GM into the ground!



also, keep in mind, how many times has ford had to discontiune production on the mustang?

GM quit: camaro, firebird, gto (now revised) el camino (not so much a hot rod, but can be)
mopar quit: charger, challenger
ford quit: falcon, maverick,

but not mustang

well yeah, if you're into driving the same thing everyone else is. thats what i love about teh goat. its got kind of a sleeper thing going on.

i love mustangs aswell. but we both know the only thing keeping it alive is a V6.

 

Yea i remamber that article, it was a good one. True moral of the story, new GTO's are gay and the mustangs Rule any compitition but everyday is a new day and everything just keeps getting better.
