That must have been a rarity indeed.

Im 35, been looking for the right truck for a while. Had always liked the Discos. I borrowed a friends Classic to go up to the snow here in the local mountains a few years ago and had been patiently biding my time till circumstances allowed me to search in earnest for the right truck. "Circumstances" happened to rear end me on my way home from work at the beginning of august in my 1990 VW Corrado G60. Insurance made me an offer and i went out searching in that price range. Picked up my Disco on the 23rd of Sept.

I've been a VW guy for a long time starting out with a 67 Type I (Bug) then getting a 98 jetta, 90 corrado, 84 rabbit GTI, 2000 V6 4-motion Passat Wagon and a 76 Scirocco. Got rid of the rabbit a few years ago, Insurance is coming next week to take the Corrado and I'm selling the Jetta as soon as i get the blown auto swapped out for a 5 speed. That leaves me with the Passat as the wifes DD and the Scirocco. Looking to pick up something a little more fun and fuel efficient to commute to work in other than the rover though. The scirocco is stripped out and running a set of DCOE's so its not up to DD status. Looking at picking up a Mercedes 190E 2.3 16V Cosworth with the funds from the leftover portion of my insurance claim and the proceeds from selling the Jetta.

My discovery was bought for me by my mother in 08. I am still in High School. I plan on attending the University of Utah for a degree in engineering. It was bought sight unseen from a friend of a friend in ABQ NM. It was put on a friends flat bed semi truck trailer on the way back from taking a load of old barn wood to AZ and was hauled to Iowa. From day one I fell in love with it. When we first got her she needed a head job... After that shes had her prissy fits but don't all rovers?
Also, for being so young and knowing so much about my Discovery, I am one of very few teens.

I bought mine when My wife and I had our son and needed a family vehicle. The moment we decided we needed a third vehicle I knew what I was going to get as I always loved the styling and envisioned camping trips with my boys.

We're both 26. My fiance was obsessed with them before and I honestly never liked them. She sold her POS 94 Accord and was dead set on a Land Rover. We looked at a few and were able to score a 98 Discovery for $1900. Sold the Honda for $2850 so it was a pretty nice jump up and left some cash to be spent. A good cleaning and a little TLC and we've got a nice Land Rover. Happy to say the vehicle I hated I am now obsessed with.
