Suffered total heart beat failure while I was in the winelands of the Cape (no, not because of wine, despite it!).
Fortunately that is also where the world's leading cardiological facilities are and two hours after the final failure (there were a number of pre-warnings) I was in theatre and a "smart"pacemaker was about to be installed. No heart condition - in fact everything in and around that clever muscle is intact and supple - the two nodes for the electronic pulses had simply failed.
Just before the procedure I asked the attractive cardiologist where this little electronic module about to be implanted was manufactured, and her answer was: "We only use a Swedish product".
"Thank God it is not from Lucas of London", I answered and told her to get going with the scalpel.
Still need to get my head around the fact that a tiny battery via a miniature electronic ignition control module is keeping me alive. It is doing it rather superbly too as I am better on my mountain bike than I was when I left Colorado 80 days ago. The autumn colours are striking too, a sight for sore eyes.

Sunday morning special..
A revolutionary new product..... for the hurried church goer who would prefer a lobotomy over more liturgy.
Immaculate confection* for communion on the fly....
*Warning:
*Not an approved substitute.
*Not to be used by the religiously insane.

To update you though, Lucas were never based in London it was Birmingham and were taken over nearly 20 years ago Lucas Industries - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia but don't don't let that trouble you 'cos they've been an American company ever since. Their business was in automototive and aerospace never medical or fridges

Well how about that...
Quite common knowledge, of course, but I certainly was not going to spoil my attempt at humour with the surgeon by going into the history of the company at that particular moment in time, and London was merely meant to alliterate Lucas, and also in order to say "England". Not meant at all to steal away Birmingham's thunder for the great and lasting legacy of successes they have left the world with regarding their reliable electronic systems - ignition and otherwise.
Thanks for the good wishes. If the baddery now only lasts as long as advertised I'll be a happy chappie.

Mind you, they did produce some cracking cars in England back then, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, Landrover, Jaguar and a few others, but mostly limited production or expensive specialist cars. c'est la vie!!!
