Disco ad

Enthusiast owned and loved (at purchase and still) Discovery 2. Just about every very well known Disco issue has been experienced and rectified. The head gaskets have never been done because they never needed to be done because it never got hot under my ownership based on having an Ultragauge to monitor coolant temps. I also did an external oil pressure gauge. Frankly the list is ridiculous on all the parts updated and/or replaced and the service done. In addition, should anything fail, a parts truck comes with it. There are shop and dealer service records (a good bit at dealers) to 92k miles and I got it at 142k. It’s currently at 162k. I’ve already got the RAVE and Electrical manuals downloaded and in a folder I can put on a USB stick for ease of reference if you like.

Simple specs above the pretty standard stuff: ‘00 SE7 (all of it works perfect)
  • Heated windshield
  • ACE
  • Airbags in the rear (spare airbags come with the sale)
  • Harmon Kardon speakers and amps
  • Rear AC

Updates:
  • Terrafirma tie rod and drag link
  • 2” Terrafirma front springs and rear spacers with correct length shocks (and springs if you want to convert, but you shouldn’t)
  • Voyager roof rack (Yakima fairing and cross bars as well as the front half covered in chicken coop flooring)
  • Voyager rear ladder
  • Terrafirma rock sliders
  • Tail light guards (upper and bumper)
  • Custom built relay box to off road lights (front and rear) wired to OEM switches (NOT a hack job, and very clean)
  • Pioneer DEH-X8800BHS Bluetooth head unit (steering wheel controls work)
  • Oil pressure gauge wired (ZERO SPLICING for wiring)
  • Ultragague to make sure the temp is correct
  • Some simple LED interior lighting upgrades
  • Coil pack relocation kit
  • GBR (Great Basin Rovers) front and rear driveshafts and U Joints greased at every oil change
  • CDL (Center Diff Lock) added, and the light even comes on the dash
  • Snorkel
  • OEM trailer tow harness added (with the adapter- again NO HACKING of harnesses)
  • The cool cup holders with inserts

Parts replaced/fixed while I’ve had it:
  • 3 of the 5 door lock actuators
  • Cruise control actuator and motor
  • Fuel pump
  • Fan clutch
  • 180F thermostat
  • Radiator
  • Serpentine belt (brand new pulleys as spares)
  • MAF (brand new spare as well)
  • ACE filter flush and filter change with correct fluid
  • Transmission filter replaced and fluid change
  • E brake boot
  • A bunch of various lights internal and external replaced
  • “Option B” performed to resolve 3 Amigos. Also have spare wheel speed sensors less than a year old on the parts truck
  • Windshield cowl replaced
  • Exterior A pillar trim replaced
  • Dash Clock replaced to a nicer one
  • Cup holders under HVAC replaced
  • Rear arm rest cup holder replaced and fixed
  • 4 brand new O2 sensors (spares)

Known issues:
  • Rear sunroof is non op, but I have a perfect one to install, just haven’t gotten around to it (THE SUNROOFS DO NOT LEAK)
  • Headliner is starting to go. I have cut to fit world map material ready to be installed on a spare headliner. Again, no time.
  • I JUST cracked the rear bumper resolving a blinker issue

Other stuff:
  • Paint is decent, but not perfect
  • Dents here and there
  • Zero and I mean ZERO rust. I flew to Southern California to pick it up.
  • 2 very nice keys

I bought this as a toy and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ve enjoyed fixing it up and wrenching on it. With the exception of the rear sunroof, EVERYTHING works, and works well. If asking price is met, a full parts truck comes with it that has had a bit pilfered, but still lots of good stuff. Additionally what can remove all fear from being able to diagnose issues is a Nanocom. This does everything from testing anything on the canbus to even being able to program keys. I’ve used it to set the rear height as well as diagnose a few issues.

Why sell it? Frankly too many toys and not enough time. I was planning on keeping it for a long time, and I’ve just finally gotten it to where it was perfect for what I wanted to use it for. Reality has come to I have other vehicles that can serve the purpose and I’m getting tired of maintaining and insuring so many machines. I can tell you anything you need to know about this machine and probably a decent bit about Discos in general. If you are a regular to any of the Land Rover forums or groups, you may have seen this machine before and I have a huge gallery of pictures of all the work I’ve done.

I’d like to get $8k for all the tools (including the Nanocom) and spare truck and all its spares. Seeing what they are going for, seems fair for all that comes with it. Located in the Salt Lake City area of UT.

Thanks! I can with confidence say, I’ve not half assed anything. Even though I sound like an obnoxious seller, someone is going to get a good one.

I particularly liked two pics that stand out from the rest; the spare Disco is now an oil/lube center and the one from under the front end with three tool boxes, two moto-bikes and a set of crutches......

You've poured yourself into that thing like no other, labor of pain for sure. I hope whoever buys it understands how much of your soul is embedded in it forever. Best of luck to you and the new owner.

Thanks for the kind words all. Today was the day. And it was a sad day. It honestly was hard- harder than I thought it would be. The new owner realized what he got at a very fair price and is ecstatic.

Saying last goodbyes...

The new daily driver doesn’t hurt my feelings, though...

thanks again all for teaching me so much and I might be back in the future...
