Extended Warranty info
I've got one on order for my wife with a preliminary delivery date of Sept 28 (my SM says). He hasn't shared order screen with me, but I haven't asked. I've bought two prior LR/RR from him so I think he's pretty square in what he tells me.
When I bought her LR4, I sprung for the extended warranty from the dealer. Not exactly what I thought it was (another story), but it covered me when required. My wife tends to keep cars a while so an EW is a gamble I take. With my MB, the warranties have an MSRP, so to speak, and different dealers mark them up differently. I bought an EW for my 2020 GLE450 from a dealership in Cali, even though I live, and bought my GLE, in Dallas because the Cali dealership was about 40% cheaper than my local dealer quoted me.
Does anyone know if LR/RR EW's are the same; one can shop them for lower cost over different dealerships?
Thanks for any insight.

I came looking for this discussion - I just picked up my Defender 110 today, and the dealer offered me the extended warranty. I'm trying to decide if it's a good deal. I paid for the car and brought it home today; I have a month to pull the trigger on the EW.
The dealer explained:
- Factory warranty is 4 years or 50,000 miles.
- The EW takes it to 7 years and 100,000 miles.
- The EW is transferrable.
- The EW can be cancelled and a pro-rated refund would be issued, but it's based on the full length, not just the added length (in other words, if you request cancellation and refund at the five year mark, you get 2/7 of the money back, not 2/3).
So... it sounds like a good deal. But is it worth the cost? They want $4K for a car that cost ~$70k. That's 5.7%.
What do you think? What has your experience been?
Thanks,
Mike

Start shopping for a EW about 6 months before the Factory warranty comes up. You can always buy it later. In 3.5 years you will know if you still have the car (was it stolen, wrecked), do you want to keep the car for years 5-7 , has it had issues, are other people talking about issues that would be covered under warranty. Good luck with the ride.
