Default Satellite Hardware Error Message

Purchased a new 2023 Range Rover HSE less than a week ago, and from the time we drove it home from the dealership, an error message on the SirusXM radio shows "Satellite Hardware Error" and there is no channels including the "free preview" channel (channel 1) displayed. I texted salesman as we were driving home from dealership the night we purchased the Range Rover and he stated that it was no big deal and is an easy fix with update. I called SirusXM the following morning and transferred by prepaid subscription with them from the Range Rover we just traded in for the new one. Sirius rep finished transfer and successfully activated radio. Still no services were available. That day (Sunday) salesman texted me a couple times and thanked us for our continued business. I told him that we are still having issues with Sirius and plan on bringing Rover into service first thing Monday morning. When my wife arrived, service advisor had been briefed by salesman of issue, he immediately took it back to his service team for roughly 20 minutes. When he came back, he told my wife that the issue was that the sales manager had to show vehicle sold and until he did, this is would remain. My wife called me and I immediately told her that was a line of BS. I've talked to technical team with Sirius multiple times and tried multiple resets and had them send multiple rehits with no luck. All indications show that there is an issue with the infotainment system and/or receiving hardware (antenna, satellite radio module etc..)

My question to this community is, has anyone else experienced this issue ("Sirius Satellite Hardware") message with no access to Sirius satellite radio, including the free "test" channel (channel 1) that is present regardless of subscription status?

If so, could you please let me know how and what was done to fix this issue? I'd like to tell these incompetent service techs what to look for!!!

Thank you...

This is a pure guess, but it is very likely that since the vehicle has not been registered as sold, your issue would remain. I would press the dealership to register the sale immediately like they should have to begin with, and see if that resolves your issue. This is a failure of the dealership as they should have activated your free trial of the satellite radio prior to delivering it. With all the built in electronics in the PIVI system and its integration with the InControl software, registering the sale of the vehicle is likely one of the safeguards to prevent thefts and unauthorized use. Keep us posted with any new developments.

Thank you for the reply wcc18999. The dealership claimed they marked it as sold and activation of Sirius was successful. According to the Sirius technician I talked to a couple days ago, regardless of status of vehicle and activation, channel 1, which is the preview channel, should always be present. According to tech, this channel is a "test" channel to make sure user has no issues and has adequate signal to receive programming. I've had dozens of autos both for work and personal in the last few years and everyone one of them has always had the channel 1 preview channel present prior to radio activation. In some case where the new vehicles we purchased were work related, we didn't activate Sirius and it always had preview channel present assuming signal was available and not blocked.

Our new Range Rover is currently in shop (yes less than a week after buying it NEW) and techs are trying to figure out "Satellite Hardware Error" message.

I will call service advisor and relay what you stated in your post.

Thanks again...

Good luck with the repair. It could very well be a bad hardware module. I just never experienced such a hardware fault with a satellite radio. Curious to see what the techs discover. All in all, a first world problem, and congrats on the purchase of an awesome vehicle.

Thanks again for reply... I called service advisor and told him what you said and he told me that my wife's Rover is registered "sold". He indicated they had a Zoom meeting with other techs around the country yesterday and one of the techs I believe he said from the UK, indicated that he has seen the issue before and that LandRover is starting to see issues with the some of the antennas that they purchased. Not sure if it was a bad batch of antennas or something. My Service advisor said they are still in the process of diagnosing the issue and he is looking for replacement antennas in the event that is the issue.

Apparently there is a 6 week back order on antennas. Go figure!!!

I have the exact same issue. I just purchased a 2024 Range Rover and the same satellite hardware error message came on immediately. The car has been in the shop for a week, and no one can figure it out. Did this ever get resolved?
