1981 White Range Rover Classic
1981 2 DOOR RANGE ROVER.
VERY RARE, possibly the best one in North America. Original left hand drive imported to California from Belgium in 1981. Complete 18 month restoration by West Coast Rovers 4 years ago. Stored in garage since restoration. Less than a couple of hundred miles on completely rebuilt engine. All transmission and engine was transferred from a 1995 Range Rover. Therefore vehicle is completely ‘smog-able’ and California legal. Original carburetor engine was replaced with the later 3.9 liter, fuel injected, electronic ignition Rover Engine. The original manual transmission was changed to the later model automatic transmission. The brakes master cylinder was upgraded to a new larger version and the starter motor was replaced with the more powerful cold weather version.
Original color was metallic blue. Restoration took paint back to metal and changed to ‘Rover Arctic White’. Interior trim was also completely replaced including black leather seats and black carpet. Dash and instruments are all original to the 1981 vehicle.
Pictures can be seen here: https://imagestash.org/stash/WSimon
Vehicle has original factory Air Con which has just been recharged and works well.
Items still not restored:
The slightly cracked instrument binnacle.
The quarter light windows – The bottom hinges need replacing
The door mirrors are not original. (I have found a new passengers side mirror but not yet found a drivers side mirror)
The upper rear tailgate window demister is not connected.
Three of the dials are not connected: the oil pressure gauge, the oil temp gauge and the clock.
The volt meter gauge is connected and works fine.
The light switch stalk on the steering column is not connected. A simple toggle switch on the dash operates the lights.
Asking $30,000
Vehicle is situated in Santa Monica, California.
