i have a 2001 DII SE with 130,000 never any major issues till now...........coolant in the oil. Changed gaskets but still coolant in oil. Other that the engine issue everything else is great. Looks and drives great. Just coolant in oil............make an offer!

You might need to part it out for that kind of money. Disco with a fudged motor is a tough sell no matter how nice it is. New owner will dump at least $2500 into a motor if yours can't be saved and by that time he'll have $5000 in just cost. You can get one with a clean running motor for that.

I think you might make more parting out clean parts.

Yeah, I've seen others that run still and have other issues for much less. I found 6 yesterday within 3 hours away, excluding yours. Mine also has pretty new tires and the PO had invested more than that into this one in the 5 months prior to my purchase.

x2 to what the previous posters have said on this one...

If the head gaskets were recently changed then it sure sounds like the best case scenario might be a cracked head. Even if the rest of the truck is mint, it isn't worth more than a $1000 - $1500.

If you have the time and really don't like the value of the truck as a whole, you'll get a lot more $$$ out of this vehicle by parting it out...

Here is an odd question. Will the motor out of my 1998 D1 fit in the 2001 DII? Because my 98 runs great and mine has all these quirky things like tail lights, leaking sun roof, etc and if I could make a clean engine swap I might be interested if other than motor yours is in "great" condition.

Yeah if it didn't have water in the oil, it might be worth $2500.

Once the motor is toast, how much you spent on tires is your problem, the only way to get very much for the tires and rims is to sell them as a set of 4 replacements for someone so if you get more than $300 there, consider yourself LUCKY.

And since you only had it for five months and it is junk now, how much the PO spent on it is also irrelevant, especially if it was on the engine that is now junk.

And to the dude that asked if his 98DI would fit, yes it will fit, just not work very well due to all the differences between the two. Talk about a fiasco.

If you part out every little detail and get top dollar for each switch, sensor, visor, window motor, door , and so forth, you may see that over the period of time it takes. For a quick sell you are looking for way too much money dude.................
