I had been having intermittent issues with DVD read errors on the 2011-2012 disks. I read a few others with the same issues.
Here is my fix.
I looked at the brand of disk it was burned to and found it was a RITEK-S04-66 disk. Those are known as mid tier DVDs with some ink issues.
or it could be they were burned at too high a speed.
I took the disk and used the free program imageburn. To rip the DVD to a ISO file then back to a new blank DVD you need dual layer DVD not the standard 4.7GB size.
You need a dual layer DVD disk to make the copy complete. There are not many options anymore so I choose verbatim
Verbatim DVD+R DL AZO 8.5 GB 8x-10x Branded Double Layer Recordable Disc, 20-Disc Spindle 95310
I burned the ISO back to the verbatim at the slowest speed of my drive of 4x.
So far no errors with the new disk.
So if you are having issues with read errors get imageburn and give this a shot.
