Default Custom Range Rover Classic Center Console

I have seen photos of this center console but never actually had one in front of me. It is a custom piece that was available when these trucks were new. This one is finished in Saddle Brown leather, the interior color found in almost all the 1993 LWB's.

This console consists of a variation on the front portion where the ash tray, coin trays and tranmission shifter are located. Unlike the original, this portion is intended to separate from the main body of the console. It is held in place the same way the original piece was, with two 13mm bolts.

It gets interesting in the main body of the console. There is an abbreviated front cubby. Then the console gets rather tall. It does this for a few reasons.

First, at the bottom of the console is one have of the dual A/C blower assembly typically found under the right footwell ( will provide one in excellent condition to the buyer). There is also an A/C condensor that appears to be in very good shape. The truck this came out of, a TWR, was fitted with aluminum A/C lines that were run off the front of the truck. I can save these linesfor anyone interested.

The second reason for the height of the console is to accommodate a small storage area neatly fitted behind the beautiful Mediterranean Poplar fold down tray. At one time there was a lock fitted to the wood and it could be retrofitted easily enough. There are also controls for the A/C as well as an ash tray (I will provide a nicer one when the unit is sold) and cigarette lighter.

Finally, the height is there to provide space for heat ventilation along the bottom of the console with two A/C vents at the top.

Overall, this was a neatly executed way of providing a bit more comfort to passengers in the cavernous back seats of these LWB's. Something like this was a dealer installed option that must have cost a small fortune. This is the first one of its kind I have ever seen. You can run it without the A/C or with depending on how adventurous you are. This is a very strong unit. Mounting requires a half dozen sheet metal screws. Any other hardware is included. You could have this console installed in your Range Rover in a little more than an hour.

I am offering it here for $300 plus shipping before I try eBay.

Some more photos of the condensor and the plastic unit with metal mounts that the console secures to. The blower motor fits into the plastic unit along with the condensor. The A/C lines then come out the back. The heater tubes connect to the lower vents on the rear of the console to provide heat while the upper vents are for the A/C.
