see on ebay: here
I bought this in July 2010 for £3,500.00 (bought by last owner in 2000 for £2,900.00) and I have covered less than a thousand miles since I bought it. I am selling this vehicle as I simply don’t use it
Since then I have spent money getting the engine running well, reconditioned the gearbox, added a new clutch & much more (I have spent an additional £3,800! See below)
628 WYD I believe was rebuilt in1999 when it was fitted with a Rover 3.5 V8, upgraded drivetrain and brakes (supported with engineers report). The engine starts first time, everytime, even after being left for a few months, and sounds great. Needless to say, with the V8 this is a very quick 1964 Land Rover. No overheating or funny knocks/clunks etc. It steers very nicely with very little play.
Has two seats in the front (possibly 3) + 2 benches in the back. I don’t know how many poeple it officially seats as not noted in V5 - possibly 7.
Spec:
Rover 3.5 EFi + SU Carbs, K&N filters
Servo assisted Series 3 LWB brakes
Engineers report for conversion
Push button start
Tax exempt
New tilt 2012
Freewheel front hubs
Jake Wright exhaust
Colway 235/35 R16 on/offroad tyres
Front military bumper with towball, tow eyes
Front bash plate
Rear dog Guard
Roll bar
Iphone 4 doc with speakers
Lightweight style heater
86,700 miles probably not correct
Original reg – must be worth afew quid on its own!
Tax to March 2014
12 Month MOT NO ADVISORIES! (to 8th Oct 2014)
Work I’ve had done at various garages:
Reset Ignition timing
Strip/Clean/Adjust carbs
Adjust valve rockers
Install fan controller (previously manual)
Fuel pump
Plugs
Oil/antifreeze
2 break drums
Brake shoes
Brake fluid
Gearbox reconditioned
New rear prop shaft Universal joint
Transfer unit shaft & roller bearings
New clutch
New washer pump
Engine mounts
New tilt 2012
The body is relatively straight and dent free(ish) for an older Land Rover and was sold to me in 2010 as ‘having a nice patina’. The paintwork is pretty tired & has some cracks yet suits the vehicle well.
This Land Rover is great fun in summer with the top down or in winter & offroad when it comes into its own. There are no known faults and again, I am selling as I hardly drive it.
If you are interested I strongly recommend you view it before bidding by arrangement near Doncaster (Bawtry) – call 07515 955191. You are bidding to buy
PLEASE: no silly offers. No ‘Buy it now’
Cash on collection or bank transfer swiftly after auction ends
