Wedded bliss...yeah right!!
I think they should beable to get married, you are not going to change them, no laws or church is going to stop them from being gay.
I am divorced and remarried, my ex wife is gay, she pays me child support, how mcuh she pays is based on her income, she makes $65,000 per year.
Her partner makes $70,000 per year.
If they could get married then the amount of child support that she would pay would be based on their combined income.
The kids suffer because the law says that only a man and a woman can get married.
I am still interested in others thoughts.

I think gays should have the same rights as everyone else. The problem I see is that they want special rights. (Wanting special rights is not just limited to gays, it crosses over to so-called minorities also.) The heterosexual community has to deal with the "alternate lifestyles" being thrown in our face and we can't say anything or it's gay bashing, homophobia, whatever you want to call it while those who choose those lifestyles are free to say anything they want about heterosexuals. That, IMO, is having special rights, not equal rights.
Wow Spike. I can see where your support of gay marriage comes from. Sounds like it could be financially beneficial for you.

I agree with you AK, if you and I tried to have a hetrosexual pride parade we would be on Opera, Larry King and all over the news being called everything but human.
And yes, if they could get married then the child support payments that I recieve would go from $120 per month to about $250 a month.
If my wife were to get a job then the amount that we get would be lowered, but my ex gets to buy a $220k house, lease a 2007 Pontiac G6 (which is actually a piece of s hit) and go on all kinds of vacations and such because she has 2 incomes and pays less child support then she should.
It is stupid as hell and it needs to change.
It would be benificial to more than just me, lots of divorced parents in my same situation, lots of divorced people who pay more child support then they should because their ex is in a relationship but cant get married.

I believe they should be able to get married. Not because I think that it is morally right. I do think it's morally right, but more importantly it just doesn't affect me if they do or don't. That has absolutely no impact on my life whatsoever. So why not? I say why stop them. Can anybody guess my abortion position?

I dont mind if they become a so-called "legal couple" but I have a problem with calling it marriage. Based on my personal beliefs and my christain upbringing I stongly believe that marriage is between a man and woman, end of story. That being said, I'm not about to tell someone how to live their life, if a man wants to his spouse to be a man, so be it. Here is what I would do, allow them to file as a couple, not a married couple, but a legal couple, and gain all the legal rights and benfits of marriage. Being married gets you tons of benefits on social security, and things like medicare benefits and alot more. It also gives you the right to visit you spouse in jail or at the hospital (how could you deny someone that??) and here is the big one for you spike, it would still allow them to file tax returns jointly hence giving them a combined family income. (Your check just got fatter). So there you have it.
I have nothing against gay people, I know 2 and they are just like me other than the fact they like the same sex. I'm not going to tell anyone how to make personal choices like that, so I think its only fair to give gay people some sort of rights.

I was not about to give up my kids, hell, I stayed married to that hellish woman for 15 years because of the kids.
I had 3, count them 3 payments to go on my 2001 Mistsubishi Montero until it was mine free and clear, bought it brand new, had 64 miles on it when I took delivery.
I bought a 1989 Toyota Camry for $500 and then drove the Montero to the dealer and let them take it back.
Spent that money on a good lawyer.
I got my kids and she pays me.

To me Cam marriage is nothing more than a word, marriage is a "leagal couple" under the law.
The church says that they cant get married because it is in the Bible, well it also says in the Bible that you cannot eat shellfish.
So if you eat shrimp, or lobster you are wrong. If that is the case then watching "The Deadliest Catch" would be like watching gay ****.
I understand what you are saying, and I agree, only why have a hang up over a word?

It is just a word, but to me its a big deal word. Also, I am very traditional, so marriage is man and woman period in my mind. Its good to have different views because thats what makes the world go around, if everyone agreed all the time nothing would get fixed as odd as that sounds.
(PS-Spike your package should be there by friday, tell me how you like the drink I sent!)
