Should I buy this 99'? Had a mechanic check it out

I picked up a 6 month Geiko policy for $392, which includes a $50 comprehensive deductible. The comp portion was like $120, so thats $170 for a brand new $1,000+ LR heated windshield. Not bad. I'll claim the shield in a month or so.

I was told that everytime the windshield is replaced the side plastic covers get broken and may not be covered with insurance? I would think it would be covered as part of the windshield replacement.

I think you played that perfectly. Saw lots, which meant you knew what you were looking at when the right one came along. Exactly how I did it. I haven't been disappointed.
Especially visiting shady dealers. They are great for showing you what to avoid, and training you what to look out for.
The engine bay looks incredibly clean. When you are happy it runs fine, and have done some servicing, you can start bolting on bits you don't really need
It's an SE so it should have an Alpine stereo. I would install a Grom unit for your iPod. Also answers the telephone for you, mic etc. Bluetooth. I just got mine finally hooked up and it's great. Post a pic here of the stereo first tho, make sure the Grom is compatible.

Ideally, I want to keep the stock head unit, and replace the CD changer with some sort of receiver capable of doing bluetooth, airplay, all that modern day stuff. But it sounds like you need to keep the changer to use the Grom?
In a perfect world, there would be a stock-looking head unit capable of all this.. but am guessing thats not an option.

Yes. That's the Alpine Highline stereo. Grom is Plug and Play.
I just went through hell getting mine fitted. But it's great. You will have no problem. You will lose the cd changer under the passenger seat. But will have blue tooth connectivity for whatever player you want.
Edit, you won't go through hell, I did cos I didn't have that head unit.
Grom plugs into the back of that stereo, in place of the cd changer you have.

Great! I ordered one. I couldn't find the 'trunk' option for the LR unit, so I emailed support about it. I want to mount it under the passenger side seat and gut the CD changer (anyone want to buy the changer?).
Long term I'd love to take a stab at integrating a raspberry pi over the ibus, with backup cams and Airplay support.
For now I'm also looking at the AirEnabler (AirEnabler) to add airplay support for the Grom.
