Default Pending P0734

Hello, so my Rover has been pending the P0734 "incorrect 4th gear ratio" or something like that. My Ultragauge has been going off with this code, it is not actually turned on the engine light but it is pending, have reset it multiple times but keeps coming on. I have replaced the MAF sensor not to long ago, seems like i can never get a break with those sensors though. Any help would be great, thanks!

D2 Manual:
P0734
(32)
* Ratio monitoring,
implausible 4th gear ratio
No apparent effect
May eventually set engine light if pending codes not cleared.

Have you done a trans fluid/filter change or checked level recently? That may be a good place to start considering the info in previous reply.

when I bought the car about 4-5 years ago I did clean the trans filter and added new fluid, then probably last year I added more trans fluid to it. I also forgot to mention that my transmission has been feeling more rough over time, when im cruising around 30 it feels kinda rough, quite a bit of vibrations, also sometimes it shifts pretty rough, like slamming into gear.

Did you refill it with the Dex-3 rated? It's a crappy job but the first thing you have to do is drain it, replace the filter with a new unit making sure to transfer the all of the Orings and get some new fluid in there. Check the magnet on bottom of pan for amount and type of metal (post pics)
Then do some searches and follow procedure on that refill. Do you have any leaks?

SO update, my rover threw 2 new codes, the annoying P0171 and P0174 so im guessing its the MAF sensor again, how often are you all replacing that MAF sensor? I feel like I am changing that every year.

How do the clips look on your Airbox lid? There should also be a serious O-ring at that connection. You don't want debris and dust particles getting sucked in the intake. If it all appears to be solid no reason to have continuous problems with MAF sensor. Remove the sensor and clean it with the proper spec stuff from the auto parts store. And you should be getting the Bosch replacement, no cheap knockoffs or you will be chasing your tail with sensors.

FYI those codes can be attributed to some other issues like vacuum and Oxygen sensors if I'm not mistaken.
Just the first link I pulled. Do some searches on it.

Good info for P0171/P0174 codes
I'm pretty sure it's the maf sensor, I have already replaced the o2 sensors not to long ago, and I have re done all of my intake gaskets before and made sure those were sealed as good as they could (saying I used liquid gasket sealer to create a better seal). It could be my wiring for the MAF sensor, I think i remember one wire was sort of lose on the connection, but the past three maf sensors I have bought were all bosch and I feel like one failed atleast a year. Is that the same for you?
