Looking into buying a 03 Disco and I know that rusted undercarriages are quite common on these. I wanted an opinion from you guys if the one I'm looking at is worth buying or not. The body and interior looks great.

 

that's in awesome shape compared to my 2000 D2 !! I wouldnt be afraid of it , at least not cuz of the rust.....lol

 

I don't know, my 210k miles D1 still looks like it rolled off the production line underneath. I won't touch an East coast car. '97 D1 underside.

I don't blame you about staying far away from East coast cars. Mine was bought in Cali and shipped to Georgia.

 

I personally wouldn't touch that but it's all relavent to you. I'm spoiled with my desert trucks. This was one of mine here.

dang those are some clean looking undersides! Mine is from MN and it is rusty underneath, but fortunately for me it leaks so much oil that I think that has saved some of the parts. It's not as rusty as the one in question. Personally, I'd veer away from that one unless it's the only one around.

 

This would be considered a normal amount of rust...in Michigan...on a vehicle of that age (if driven in the winter or on dirt roads). It just comes with the territory here.

doesnt look like its rotted through yet lol so go for it. just do what you can from this point to prevent further rust.

 

We have 60 year old cars in better condition than that underneath, but then mild winters with no snow or salted roads to eat the metal.
Do you guys use salt on the rds up north ?
