Default Removable Winch Project

Started the project last week making a removable winch mount so I can keep the original bumper and at the same time be able to install a winch if needed. Its a daily driver and I just dont need to haul the winch everyday.

Nice! If it fits into a 2" hitch receiver up front then in some situations you could also swap it to your rear 2" receiver?

That looks very nice.

Did you basically add a 2" receiver up front? Or did you craft the receiver and a mount for the winch?

I purchased some items from etrailer like the winch mount tray and the 2" receiver. Cut it to lenght and bolted it to the perpendicular frame that bolts onto the bumper mounts. Need to make it 2 pieces coz it wont turn inside infront of the radiator to mount on the frame.

What are your plans for wiring? Especially, if you want to use it in the rear receiver, too.

Thanks Clay, The winch will be inside the cab the entire time if I have to do some off road thing. If and if its needed then it can be installed. I just dont want that installed all the time driving around the city most of the time plus the weight.

Hi Brian,
Its possible and that will be great but you need at least an AWG 4/0 to reach power all the way to the rear winch since there will be voltage drop per feet of cable. I remember when I had to run an inverter to the back, I think the cable alone cost as much as the winch. Wires need to be run under the truck. LOL!
