Maybe if I drove the new Discovery on that offroad course, the test drive would have been more fun. Smaller windows and black headliner made it feel dark and cramped inside. Why are the rear seats so low? Not much visibility out the back window. Handling feels better, feels lighter, but why is this diesel so sluggish compared to any Audi TDI loaner I ever drove. I so wanted to order one but when I got back in my LR4 I liked it so much better. Not sure I can spend $75K on a vehicle I don't like better than my current LR4.

Landrover is going in the wrong direction for me. Not sure I will get another one seeing what the future holds. Did they get a new CEO or something? Its a step backwards the LR5. Costs more gives less.
I have now switched back to the LR4. The 2017/18 Discovery has some really nice technology improvements (albeit some initial bugs), but the design in parts of the car is a complete mess.

Switched back? Did you own a LR5 then trade it back in for a LR4?
I have not seen many online comparisons of LR4 to LR5. I don't care for the thinner looking tires and and puny windows. Looks like every other SUV on the road now, lost its Landrover Looks.
Rajod: Yes, I had the D5. And I loved it EXCEPT for a major problem with the climate controls. I started a thread on this on this site.
Again, no details of how I switched. But, basically, I no longer have the D5 and bought a 2015 LR4 Lux. There are many comparisons you can find online for the LR4 vs D5. Personally, the D5 is completely over rated for the money, the design looks like Ford, the climate controls suck *** and the extra technology is cool, but not worth the $20k over the price of a fully loaded 2016 Volvo XC90 (which I had previously).
Even though the LR4 is 2 years old, it is a fantastic car for the money I spent. LR has always been behind on the technology part, but that is not the main reason I purchase LR products.
