Time for a second ...
As I began planning for a motor swap and seeing how generous the tax man was this year, I checked out the local used D1 options (96 - up) and I believe I'll have another!
I do like the D1 look, but any pros/cons I should think of with the 97-99 years I'm seeing available?
I like my 96 diff lock and realize the adaptability options with some - any other thoughts? Russ

My 98 D1 LE in British Racing Green. Rear A/C, Rear Jump seats, Original Radio with CD changer. All seats still uncracked and all sunroof shades still unbroken!! New rear sunroof and the sagging headliner should be able to be replaced with the perfect one in my 96 ( I think?) The down side is the passenger car tires and the rear step that is held up with rope in these pics. I tried to remove it tonight, but the bolt is darn tight! The grille guard is gone - I pulled it off tonight - available if anyone is interested. I really don't like the chrome bumpers, either. The front fog?/ driving lights will have to go also - if anyone is interested, let me know before next weekend or I'll just cut the plastic like I did on my 96. The wood on the console had to get the rubber mat from my 96 to make it useable. Seems to be a heck of a good start though!! Russ

And yeah, that right rear bumper end needs a screw - but all the pieces are there for the screws! The front one just needs the bracket bent back.
They had some Rover tailight grilles on it that had to go, way cheesy so it left some nutserts in the sheetmetal.
Oh, and I found out last night after breaking a key in the gas door that an Ilco X170 key blank is shorter (fits pockets better) which is a Peterbilt blank. It has a new ignition lock with new key, but doors had worn out blanks! Fixed now with a spare hidden on frame. Russ
