I was looking at an extra automatic Temperature control (HVAC) on my workbench. There was a thread earlier about cleaning up the sticky coating on the dials. I think some were concerned about breaking the dials, so I thought I’d post up some tips.
All three dials are easy to remove.
YouTube video here:
Turn each dial to furthest counter clockwise (cool and fan off. This helps for reassembly later.
Put a small flat blade screwdriver between the dial and the unit at about the red dot.
Pry up gently with the screwdriver as you pull the dial with your other hand. Install is the simple, just line up the lamp indicator with the blue dot and press gently and evenly.
My temp dials were in decent shape, but the fan speed control dial was really soft and chewed up. The rubber outer ring will pull off and the plastic **** might be better for you. Was thinking of trying plastidip on it. No manufacturer numbers or logos on it.
