Another No-Start Thread... Bad ECM ??
#11
Seems to be back to normal. Popped the shroud / pin guide plates out of the ECM plugs, and the bottom-most pins of the bottom-most plug were pretty scaled up with corrosion and there were water stains in the plug, which happens to be directly under the previously uncaulked seam on the corner of the cowling gutter. A thunderstorm just blew through, ran out and brought the rover into the garage and noticed the top of the ecm and main relay were soaked, luckily they were protected by some creative duct tape arts & crafts. Is there supposed to be a weatherstripping strip along the top of the fender(s)?

I have weatherstripping but it's only half the length of the fender and at the top on both sides, I assume it's stock. I pushed dielectric grease into the female side of the ECU connectors and wiped the bottom well, no chance of cross circuit connectivity. So far so good, mine has sat outside all year round for eight years. Even though the ECU showed no sign of water ingress I applied a very, very thin coat of sealant to both covers just in case and I have a spare if needed. I've predominantly owned and worked on GM's, was very disappointed in Land Rovers lack of electrical water proofing.
