A common problem with the Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic is unwanted immobilization due to a security system fault, or failing immobilization control unit. These are sealed and fail often due to broken solder joints and relays. The part is no longer available but can be fixed by opening the case and reflowing broken solder joints.
Fortunately the EICU can be bypassed with part AMR4956 (available from Rovers North), which simply connects input pins to output pins on the EICU harness. Of course, you could create your own using the same logic.
What exactly does this do. Does it stop the alarm from going off? Does it let the doors work, Does it stop the immobilizer from killing the vehicle?

Nice, if only it were this easy to fix my door locking and alarm issues! I haven't locked my doors in months because I was getting too many false alarms...
