Stereo wiring has me all confused....
So my stock radio stopped working. Bought the harness from crutchfield to use with a spare single din flip screen I had. Harness received, but now I'm confused. I've looked over the wiring diagrams for the pink speaker plug and something doesn't make sense. First off, I have 6 out of the 10 wires... I am missing both front negatives and subwoofer pos and neg. Secondly, the Metra plug has front and rear positives but all the negatives tied in to one spot, the FL neg. Which I don't even have on the factory plug!
I have a 98 LE with cd changer under pass seat, nothing under driver seat, and subs I back door.
I have read the amp is behind the subs but haven't checked yet.
My question: is this weird correctly or did someone do something down the road?
I have lifetime service receipts and none of them show any changes to stereo components. Am I missing something here? I'll keep researching the boards till I find something...

Well, today was not a good day. I ended up buying a new stereo because my flip screen stereo wouldn't read discs, wouldn't connect to the cd changer, and was turning in to a hassle to wire some the hideaway receive had to be located under one of the seats. I ended up buying a semi cheap unit that works decent and wiring in to the factory plugs. It sounds good and will last a while till I upgrade all the audio on the truck. However, it appears my truck has blown a head gasket only 180 miles after being rebuilt.... F*** me...
Looks like I'm canceling golf and all other plans this weekend...

Wow that sucks, and I am sorry both for the stereo and then for the gasket. they are fun to replace, well maybe not fun fun , but not horrid, just tedious. Well unless ya get someone to then it's just spendy. Well I do hope that it did not blow to the point where there is now coolant in the oil. Best of luck and if you need advice/help feel free to ask, if I can I will

That's what I'm dreading, the tedious part. I'm hoping to bypass some tedious by unbolting the manifold with the fuel rail, intake runners, and plenum still attached..
My biggest concern is unbolting the back bolts on the heads. Last time I had very little space and almost stripped them out. I'm hoping head gaskets, rocker cover gaskets, and head bolts are all I'll need. Wish me luck
