Smile Stupid Question of the Week

Located next to the ABS on the right side of the engine. What is this? What does it do? I noticed few days ago that it was popped up, now it is pushed down. I looked in the RAVE and some engine diagrams on Rovers North, but couldn't find it. Something I should be concerned about?

Thanks everyone.

It works just like the button on the door jamb, if the hood is open the alarm will not set because the vehicle is not secure.
