Stupid Question from Newbie
Hello all, I have the opportunity to trade my '95 Volvo 850 Turbo w/ 90K (which I love, drives great, but sits a little low) for a '97 Land Rover Discovery w/ over 100K on it. I like the height of a truck.
My questiion is, "I would have no problem trading up for another Volvo w/ over 150K on it as they have the reputation of going 200K with no problem. Does the Land Rover have the same reputation for high mileage without problems?
Thanx to all for any responses

The engine is a 4.0 litre V-8, if in North America and not a grey market vehicle. But--- to answer the original question---- no, there is no such thing as a Land Rover going to 200K with "no problem". By less than half that mileage the vast majority have had head gaskets replaced, or need to have then replaced. Water pumps last approx. 60K miles. Power steering hoses, oil cooler hoses, and steering boxes usually have to be replaced by the 120K mark. The list goes on......
read my primer under the tech info pages at www.eurotekapg.com for tips on what to look for. And ---do not buy one without service records, or you are "throwing the dice" big-time.
