I'd say the rear main leaks.

This is the before shot. A lot of oil. One nice thing is that it makes my old engine look clean!

Okay that's a new one on me. I'll Google it. Thanks!

Found this http://www.landroversonly.com/forums...-seals-112033/

Doesn't sound incredible difficult with the engine off. But new bearings and crank Polish are required.

Edit: Okay I broke down and found a local machine shop and learned alot. I learned that I was an idiot not to get my heads planed for my last two head gasket jobs. So I'm having my heads pressure tested and planed, and the crank polished. If the crank has to be turned they will tell me what main bearings to get. I'm also going to give them the bottom portion of the engine to clean for a mere 50 bucks to bare metal.

However, I am confused about something they told me. They said leave the cams on because if you do it wrong you can destroy the engine. Do WHAT wrong?

Also said leave the crank in because... Blah blah.. Numbers.. Position... Blah blah... Rod cups... Rod bearings... Blah blah... Don't touch anything... Blah blah.... Engine will destroy itself... . What the hell are they talking about???

Finally got my head around SAI and what a useless complication it is. I've read all of the hand wringing about inspections and VINs and computers and none of that phases me at all since my vehicle VIN is for non SAI and I don't have to worry about emission testing anyway where I live. And I just don't care.

So, now I'm not going to swap the computers at all. Screw that. I'm trying to decide which heads to get planed. I have the SAI heads and some old non SAI heads that have not been well stored. Is there a way to plug the SAI heads and use them?

Thanks, Dusty; I couldn't find it. I would really just like to use those heads and toss the SAI stuff.
