Default FYI- Oil dipstick screw

Just a quick FYI about the D2 oil dipstick screw. Mine fell out recently and the oil tube was flopping around wildly.

After unsuccessfully scouring the web in search of the screw type / size, I called several LR dealers hoping they'd be kind enough to provide such a simple bit of information. Two refused but offered to service my vehicle and one gave me the (wrong) information.

Apparently the dealer book points to a 8.5mm x 3/8 self tapping screw (it's not).

So here it is... 10mm x 3/8 machine screw.

I just noticed mine was gone and I'll look around to see if I have something that will work.

It is good to see you still have that Disco and it is still acting up a little.
Funny you should mention that screw, I lost mine a while back and being lazy haven't done anything about it till now. Now I have no excuse,
Thanks.

I tried a 3mm, but that was too small and a 4mm wouldn't start. I went to the hardware store and got a #10 machine screw 3/8" long and that tightened right down. So it is a #10 standard thread, not metric.

I remember taking that screw out.
First -

It has a phillips size which is larger than usual. Maybe a #3 or #4?

And

It is a self taping screw.

not machine threads.

Call Rimmer Bros on Skype and I bet they have a few
