Default Bearing-Like Whine

After cleaning the engine bay after filling it with mud I started having a whine that sounds like alternator bearings going. Thinking back though I think I've heard it on and off for the last few months so I guess I shoudn't be surprised. Does anyone know which bearings I need to order if when I pull the belt it does end up being the alternator?

Probably more likely an idler pulley bearing. If it is the alternator, you might as well either have it rebuilt by an alternator shop or replace it with a quality rebuilt one. Usually, alternator shops will match the replacement bearing to the alternator when it's on the bench based on the part numbers on the bearings actually installed.

If it is the alternator I'll want to replace it with a high output unit. Has anyone had luck with a 200A+ alternator they could recommend?
