Default Discovery II Wheel questions

About to rid my Disco of the 18" Hurricanes to pick up some 16"

my list of wants in order are:
****RRC002160MNH (72179) 16x7?8? 6 spoke style 3

***RRC112810WOV (72155) 16x8 Typhoon

**RRC112820MNH (72163) 16x8 Lightening

*RRC115080 16x8 2002 Kalahari Edition

The question is, the Style 3's I want are claimed to be 16x7 on some sites and 16x8 on others.

Which is it? I really want it to be 16x8, but am unsure based on all the conflicting info.

I have the 72179 model on my D2 and they are 16x8

I have one not mounted. I can take a pic tommorow of the dimensions stamped in the rim.

I'm the opposite and want a 16x7!

Zack at Roversnorth shared a study that shows that unless you are dealing with bottomless mud or snow, skinny tires are superior in off road conditions.

Where are you located? I have a set in Southern California

Thanks Abran. I'm going to take a look at that study.

Doesn't matter either way, the Wifey wants the style 3s. Not going to argue with that.

I'm in Georgia. Any idea how much shipping those things would be. Something tells me EXPENSIVE!!!!

Expeditions West: Tire Selection for Expedition Travel

And there's really only a few D2 16x7s out there, TRIARIII on here has a set of the UK G4 styles, real nice wheels.

Talking

You guys are making me want to try to convince the Wifey to let me get some 16x7s.

Anyone want to have that argument for me? :-)

Funny thing, if you search almost every Style 3, Typhoon, Mirage, or Lightning wheels on ebay and other classified listings, you will find a LOT of them that "are" 16x7.

That was why I was so confused!

I should just buy some 16x7 from a classified add, and then get mad and ask for some of my money back when I find out they are 16x8.

I pulled a 16x7 steel wheel out of a 2000 P38, but it could have been replaced.

I'm guessing $40 a wheel. These wheels only came on S model 03-04 if I'm not mistaken. I think they look the best besides the G4 wheels Zack mentioned.
