Default P1173 and P0157 Fix

Just a quick one to report a fix for these codes... These are O2 sensor/lean runnibg codes and they would come and go intermittently. Installed a new Y pipe from AB catalyst today and no more codes or service engine light.
only problem is my expansion tank now leaks from the bottom. I wonder if this us bad luck or whether the guy at the muffler shop knocked something while disconnecting the y pipe at the manifold. Is it even worth talking to the shop about it or just fix/replace myself?

An expansion tank leak should be addressed. If the plastic nipple at the bottom is leaking, you'll need a new tank, which is relatively pricey. If it's a hose or that terrible plastic line, you can fix/replace it cheaply. Pop the tank up out of its bracket (it's easy) and check.

It's really hard to say if it's the muffler shop guy's fault or not. If it's one of the black plastic lines, it probably was, but I wouldn't take it back and ask them to fix it. It's not really fair, because these lines get very brittle when they get old, and even slightly moving them around can break them.

A new coolant reservoir is not that expensive. I paid around $35 for one on eBay.

Thanks chaps.
I had a similar experience with those PoS hard lines when I removed my airbox a couple of months ago... ended up snapping the overflow line so I replaced it with some rubber hosing. Will probably do the same for the TB heater line.

mln - how is the ebay tank holding up?

One other thing... having an ultragauge or scangauge on one of these vehicles is essential. It was the UG that actually alerted me to a problem before it became serious - ont he way home form the muffler shop I noticed my temps getting up to 197*c on the highway and I'm normally cruising at 188-194*c. I know it's a small difference that some would just consider a normal spike, but it forced me to pop the hood and have a looksie. I guess it doesn't take much of a leak to allow enough air into the system and raise the temps...
