That crap looks like BARS LEAK Liquid Copper Block Seal. Hope someone didn't try to use a mechanic-in-a-can to "FIX" a bigger problem.

Do you know where the coolant overflow tank is? Have you refilled it? What did you put in there? Dexcool or other?

You will overheat if you don't refill the missing coolant. You will also overheat if you have air in the system.

You WILL ruin your engine if you overheat.

Basics first... STOP Driving it NOW. Fix the cooling system... Then see if your engine still works.

The overheating could well blow your head gaskets among other things. The HG's can be fixed. Other things from overheating can't be fixed.

Either get the RAVE manual and a scan tool and start leaning all about your vehicle, or take it (on a trailer) to a reputable independent land rover specialist... Not the dealer, not a car lot mechanic, not a foreign car shop.

Sounds like it overheated a few times Dave. I'd get her tested ASAP.

Okay here is the update mates...

Performed a bypass on the hose and am running from overflow tank into engine block behind the AC Compressor. So far that has circumvented any leaks that I can visibly see.

Current situation: I've been filling the overflow tank with 75/25 water/antifreeze. I've been filling while the motor is running and it stays at mid temp. When I put the cap onto the overflow tank though I noticed the truck begin to overheat.

I released the steam/pressure and noticed once I turned off the motor the engine sucked in the fluid from the overflow tank. I've gotten it to the point where the overflow tank is staying full but i'm getting small burps of air coming out when the cap is off.

The motor is still running at 50/50 temp at idle. I don't want to drive it until I'm sure it's 100%

In other news the motor seems fine as there is no smoke/milky exhaust exiting the engine. I'll keep you all updated as the sun has set and i'm relaxing for the eve.

Slainte!

Sounds like you are not bleeding the system correctly.

The procedure is in a number of threads on here but to save you the time I'll give you the short version.

Must be done with engine STONE COLD not running.

Remove the overflow tank from its seat (clips underneath) and elevate it as high as the (fragile plastic) hoses will allow.

have your premix at the ready to add into the tank.

open the bleeder screw on the T in the top radiator hose. careful not to break it.

keep adding to the overflow tank until a steady stream comes out the bleeder opening.

put the bleeder screw back in while the stream is still flowing steady before you lower the overflow tank. once the bleeder is in replace to the overflow tank to its proper location. Top off and put the cap back on the overflow tank.

Now start the truck and let it warm up... If it does not overheat at idle take it for a drive. if it still wants to overheat repeat the process again next time the engine is cold.

it is not unusual to have to bleed a few times.

Good Luck!

Quick question as I cannot locate the answer.

The second hose on the overflow tank...is that an open line/bleeder line or does it connect to another hose location? It's the line closest to the cabin if you're looking from the front of the vehicle to the cabin.

Are you talking about the plastic one just below the cap that angles downward? That is just an overflow tube. The hose small hose below that connects to the plastic line that runs to your TB heater and the other small hose connects to the plastic line that goes to the radiator.
