Default Discovery I: help identifying bolt attached to front diff?

Hello everyone, newbie here.

Please can you help me identify a missing bolt on a Discovery I TDI (1995). There should be two such bolts. I don't know what they do, and I'm not really sure what it is attached to but I think it attaches something relating to the steering to the front diff. This probably makes no sense so I have found a suitable pic of the underside in the service manual, and I have highlighted the bolts with red circles.

As I said, one is missing and it looks like it might be important!

Any help much appreciated - including an explanation of what I am looking at... what is the thing highlighted with the blue arrow?

The thing with the blue arrow is the steering damper. When you hit a rock on the trail, it keeps the steering wheel from jerking and breaking your thumbs.

The two bolts secure the end of the steering stabilizer to the differential. If you're missing one, take the other one out, take another car to the hardware store and match the bolt to one at the store. Make sure to use at least a grade 5 or better bolt (grade 8 preferable). Go home and reinstall the two bolts and the problem is solved.
Cheers,
Paul

Thanks guys for the info - hopefully I can find a replacement!

(As it happens, Landie's off the road for a while until I replace the coolant... friends borrowed her, she overheated and they had to fill her up with tap water... Have to treat her gently in the heat of north Western Australia )
